Blue Charm

An Atlantic Salmon Classic. This pattern has stood the test of time, and continues to produce on Atlantic salmon rivers worldwide.

Works well in a range of sizes depending on water conditions, use size 2-6 for high water, early season work, and sizes 8-12 with lower water during the summer months.

Pro tip: Use this fly on bright days, and try this pattern with a riffle hitch (a half hitch placed behind the eye of the fly) to create a V-wake that is sometimes irresistible to salmon.

Tag: Flat silver Mylar
Butt: Uni floss, yellow/chartreuse/chinese red
Tail: Golden pheasant crest.
Rib: Oval tinsel
Body: Black uni floss
Collar/Throat: Blue hen hackle for collar, schlappen for throat.
Wing: Moose or black bear
Overwing (optional): Blue krystal flash
