Bee Bomber

Originally used on the south coast of Newfoundland, the Bee Bomber has quickly proven effective throughout the island and especially in Labrador. This fly has also been known to conjure up some salmon in Nova Scotia.

Drift it, swing it, skitter or pop it. This fly works however you want to fish it. Fish it from size 4 to size 12 and everything in between. Tie with calf tail on the tail and wing to enhance visibility, or more simply with some strands of moose in the tail if you want a more subtle variation.

Pattern materials

• Thread: Size 6/0 Uni Thread white.
• Hook: Streamer/bomber hook for larger sizes, standard dry fly hooks for smaller sizes.
• Tail/Front wing: Calf tail front and back, or moose just for the tail (bug) version.
• Body: Alternating bunches of yellow and black deer hair, trimmed to a cigar shape.
• Hackle: Genetic brown saddle hackle.
